RMS – Refiner Monitoring System

The RMS system actually consists of four different types:

RMS-CD1 A system that is used for Metso Paper RGP-CD refiner types.
RMS-SD1 A system that is used for Single Disc refiner types such as the RGP-60 and the RGP-200 series.
RMS-EX1 A system without the TDC/AGS measurement that is supplied to board refiners.
RMS-RS1 The RMS-RS1 replaces the almost 30 year old DCA-02 measurement rack. Unfortunately, obsolete components mean the DCA-02 can no longer be serviced.

The RMS-CD1, RMS-SD1 and RMS-RS1 can be supplied for both the TDC and AGS sensor types.

How to upgrade a running RMS system on an RGP refiner

It takes approximately 8 hours of downtime to upgrade the RMS system in production to the AGS level. The new display unit is based on a Panel PC running on Windows CE and provides the additional interface required for an automatic calibration of the measuring tip.

An upgrade kit is supplied for the RMS-CD1, RMS-SD1 and the RMS-RS1 measuring systems. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact your Metso Paper sales representative or Dametric directly.

GMS – Gap Monitoring System

The Andritz Twin-60 refiners represent an additional market for the AGS sensor. These refiners can be supplied with a GMS system and an AGS sensor to ensure that the operator is provided with confirmation of the precise gaps between the rotor and the two stator sides. The AGS is ideal for making an accurate calibration due to the fact that there is a lack of controlled movement of the stators. Please do not hesitate to contact Dametric for further information.
