The WDS Mobile system has been predominantly designed for companies that are in the weighing business. However, it should be noted that the truck tracking functionality together with the mapping functionality makes it appropriate for any truck logistic company that wants to ensure they have control over their trucks. The system consists of a server and a client part, which is normally customized to meet the specific requirements of the customer.
The Client
The client runs on a rugged PC featuring a touch sensitive screen with built-in GPS, a mobile connection and the possibility to connect external weighing devices and tag readers. The WdsClient is the software that runs on the client PC. It receives the weighing data from the weighing device which is then presented on the screen and stored in a local database. When the application has its mobile connection up and running, it transfers the stored weighing data to the database on the server. The application features route handling with the possibility of getting route directions on a map.

The Server
The server side consist of two servers, one for the WebService that communicates with the clients through a firewall and one for the database (SQL server) and the website (WdsWebSite). The WdsWebSite has been designed to import route lists e.g. from an Excel document, export weighing data e.g. to an Excel document, view data in a table format or on a map and it also incorporates various other administrative functions.

Customizations
Normally the customers operate their own administrative programs which can export route data to an Excel document or to an XML document. We will then make an interface module that will translate the customer data to our own internal format. It should be noted that the same technique is applied for the exporting data function. Furthermore, we provide customizations on the client's GUI and the WdsClient is localized and supports different languages.
Truck Tracking Function
Each truck that is equipped with our WdsClient PC can be configured to periodically transfer its current GPS position to the server application. When activating the truck map location function in the WdsWebSite application, the position of the truck can be clearly tracked on the map that is displayed on the screen.
